What restrictions would be placed on science?

Where would science cross the moral line under this new system? As you probably already know, the current government is holding back several new and practically uncharted areas of science that could be key to solving many of the world’s problems (genetic engineering, cloning, etc.) with laws and other restrictions. One reason they are holding these kinds of things back is because it does not seem right to them, but another reason is that they are afraid of it, and with good reason. If something were to go wrong while scientists were altering corn to be more drought-tolerant, humans could be affected and possibly killed. So would it be worth the risk under this new system? What restrictions would there be on science to protect the minds and bodies of the human race? Would we be willing to take a chance to gain more knowledge than we have in centuries and improve humankind in the process? Where would the restrictions on science begin under a free community?

Quinton: I don't think there would be

I don't think there would be a moral line. Anything scientific would be allowed. What wouldn't be allowed would be the initiation of force on another human being. If science was not doing this then there would be no problems.

In the case of scientists harming food or something of this nature it would be up to humans to decide whether or not to support businesses that operate this way. There could be organizations that are privately funded who look into the safeness of certain scientific groups and report back their findings. Based on these findings people could decide whether or not to financially support such scientific endeavors. But there would be no restrictions on scientific progress. We could come up with "what if" scenarios all day long in any industry.

If anything, science would be promoted heavily. There is much more positive to come from science than negative. It would be great to have people working towards developing things like free energy and improved transportation. Things like this would be heavily championed.

Nash: Science Restrictions?

If truth be told in our earth history, Atlantis was destroyed as usual by the over ambitious scientist. For the new county or nation to forward with rest of cosmos and galactic neighbors we most definitely need Spiritual Science period - to keep humanity in cjeck.

realeasygoing: I have a right not to be cloned.

I agree that people should only be allowed to clone themselves. They should not be able to clone anyone else and less a legal waiver was signed. I would prefer a situation where we did not turn in to a Gattaca society with all of us trying to purge our genetic weaknesses out (but should it be outlawed? I guess not).

Science should be privately funded and not have it's hand out to the people. I will agree alot of our jumps forward have been through NASA and the Military Industrial Complex and hope then in a truly free society.

I shot a CIA "Coil pistol" before it can pierce FBI type body armor is silent and has a free energy type battery that charges itself sadly I had to ditch it and now the CIA is too afraid of what I'd do if they gave me more weapons but I did give my ex ironically can't remember her name a really bitching gun so anyone killed by "Alien pistol" sorry my ex

Beast Computer ...: sorry to overload this shit

tofifi08: I don't think that there

I don't think that there should be a restriction in science. We supposed to learn unlimited things in science. There should not be a hindrance in learning it.
